Introductory Paragraph Lesson
I integrated technology in my instructional approach while teaching a lesson on how to write an introductory paragraph. I wanted students to think about the purpose of an introduction similar to a movie trailer in that it gives an idea of what the movie will be about without revealing the whole story. We deconstructed the trailer, aligning its parts with the components of a paragraph to illustrate what students would incorporate in their writing. The slides and video were not only a great way to engage the students but also presented the information in a memorable format for easy recall and future reference.
In the future, I envision an exciting way to further leverage technology into this lesson and reinforce the movie trailer concept would be to have them use their introductory paragraph to create a trailer of their own. This task could easily be done using Canva and would give students a fun, creative opportunity to engage with technology firsthand
